Why 3 am is that "high intensity hour" ?

I had a thought as I'm waiting for it. Why it's 3am exactly ?

It feels a bit like waiting for midnight as a kid. Back when midnight was considered a "spooky hour" and I should be in bed before it.As an adult It's not that hard to stay up till midnight, so that "spooky hour" is moved to 3am, so it's again challenging to stay up this late.

What's the reasoning behind 3 am being this special hour ? Does it have something to do with position of the moon ? Or it's something from numerology ?

This is basically two questions:

1. Is the ‘Witching Hour’ a real and objective thing, meaning that experiences happen during the 3-4 AM window more often or easily (or whichever less common hour for it is used)? Almost certainly not. Believing it’s a special magical hour might get you better ritual results, and all hours have their own symbolism that people make use of in some systems, but there’s almost certainly nothing there objectively.

2. It probably just stems from folklore, and potentially where people are in their sleep cycle at that hour. Weird sleep cycle timing could mean more experiences, often false. It definitely has nothing to do with the position of the moon or anything like that.

Many of my most potent positive and negative experiences have happened in the middle of the day. Some have of course happened at night. A few maybe at 3 AM (not that I would normally be that specific at keeping the time). Doesn’t seem to make any real difference.

So... waiting last night did more harm than good. I fell asleap while meditating..

whatever. It feels special to me so I might as well roll with it. Just next time without waiting no matter the exhaustion

Staying up can be helpful if it helps you get into a sort of mental flow state or focus state or what have you. And if it resonates with you it certainly won’t hurt your magical attempts. But objectively? 3 AM is probably about as good a time as 3 PM.
